  3. I've uploaded the most recent version (v.1.03) of FRACTION FONTS 
  4. for Windows. There are four modifications to the previous versions 
  5. worth noting . . .
  6.  
  7. 1.  At the request of several SYSOPs, the archive is now in ZIP 
  8. format, rather than EXE (which was a self-extracting ZIP).
  9.  
  10. 2.  The fonts have been rebuilt using a different encoding scheme. 
  11. This results in about an 18% decrease in font file size.
  12.  
  13. 3.  The "FRACFONT.WRI" file has been totally recomposed. This file 
  14. gave some new users fits -- it appeared as a chaos of meaningless 
  15. characters in Windows Write.
  16.  
  17.     This had nothing to do with FRACTION FONTS in any version. I 
  18.     just happened to have written the original "FRACFONT.WRI" 
  19.     using the store-bought version (1.0) of ATM. In this file all 
  20.     text except fractions was identified as either "TIMES" or 
  21.     "HELVETICA" rather than "Tms Rmn" or "Helv". Consequently, 
  22.     ATM's Alias and Synonym functions weren't being used.

  24.     Then, along came PageMaker 4.0 with an OEM version of ATM 
  25.     (1.1) and a diskfull of free fonts. Later, Lotus did the same 
  26.     with ATM (1.5). Alias and Synonym functions were necessary to 
  27.     identify Ariel, Gill Sans, and Times New Roman as the logical 
  28.     counterparts of Tms Rmn and Helv.

  30.     To make a long story short, the updated version of 
  31.     "FRACFONT.WRI" should work with any correctly installed 
  32.     version of ATM that references Aliases and Synonyms for Tms 
  33.     Rmn and Helv.

  35. 4.  The major modification in v.1.03 is the inclusion of alternate 
  36. Degree Signs. This is to compensate for idiosyncrasies in how ATM, 
  37. PCL, PostScript, and dot matrix printers handle this symbol.
